Dandara Scotland is preparing to open its second major build-to-rent location in Aberdeen, as the company marks a decade in the city.
Headquartered in Aberdeen, Dandara broke into the Scottish marketplace in 2007 with the Gh2o development at Glasgow Harbour and has gone on to set new standards in residential development ranging from city apartments to large-scale family homes in the £1m bracket.
In 2015 Dandara announced Forbes Place, the 292-property apartment and townhouse development in the Aberdeen airport zone, created solely for the build-to-rent market, which was subsequently acquired by a major UK pension fund.
As Aberdeen’s re-emergence from a three-year downturn in activity in the energy industry gathers pace, so does Dandara’s push to bring residential property back to the oil capital of Europe’s reinvigorated heart.
The Point, built around the historic spire of Archibald Simpson’s historic Triple Kirks, has been confirmed as a second major build-to-rent location, with some 342 apartments delivering a key element of Aberdeen City Council’s masterplan for the city centre.
Designed around a zero-car ownership model, The Point is within walking distance of three significant, headquarters-style office developments; Aberdeen’s improved regional bus and rail networks; and access to electric vehicle hire facilities.
Aberdeen is nearing the end of a very challenging period in business terms, which has led to new generations of home movers increasingly, and similarly to those in major financial centres worldwide, looking at options to rent rather than buy – and to rent from an institution which can guarantee them terms with minimum risk.
Supporting the local authority’s drive to bring people back into living in the city centre, The Point will give those who want to lease an opportunity to enjoy a truly modern, connected lifestyle in the increasingly cosmopolitan heart of what remains the most important business location for oil, gas and renewables in Europe.
The Point is developed and operated by Dandara Living, the rental division of the Dandara Group.
